How Messaging Works for HERizon Allies

Messaging as an Ally works a little differently than it does for individual members. The system is set up to give members control over who can reach them, while still giving Allies meaningful ways to connect. Here is how it works.

When a member messages you

If an individual member reaches out to your organization first, the conversation is open. You can reply freely and the thread works like any standard direct message. This is the most common path for member-to-Ally conversations.

When you want to reach out first

If you want to initiate a conversation with a member who does not already follow you, you will need to send a Message Request. Here is how:

1. Go to the member's profile.

2. Tap Message Request.

3. Write your message.

4. The member receives a notification and can accept or decline.

5. If they accept, the conversation opens and you can message freely from that point.

Members who already follow your organization can be messaged more directly. And Allies can message each other without any request process at all.

• Voice messages — record in the app, review or edit the auto-generated transcript, and send

Managing your inbox

Filter between All Messages and Unread at the top of the Messages screen. Keep your notifications turned on so you are aware of new messages and activity without having to check manually.
